Why do I keep hearing "Eggs in jail" said in that "PIGS! IN! SPA-A-A-C-E!" voice?

I thought keeping the little bread puck was mandatory. After all, what will you use to soak up all of the eggy goodness?

"Eggs in jail" also leads down unsavory paths, such as "eggs in the can," or dare I say it: "Gibbly's Willies in the can"?

Enough double entendre to name a bar.

Interesting--this raises the question of what the negative space/hole filling is called. I haven't seen any names for that.

"Eggs in jail" was served yesterday for brunch at Outerlands. The best part was that they kept the negative space section of the bread that had been cut out (in this case a thick cylinder). It was buttered, grilled, and served on the side-- a perfectly crisp conspirator to aid in the jailbreak of a wrongly convicted egg.

To me it's the plural that is so disturbing. Why does Gibbly have more than one willie? Which makes 3 worse than 2. Or better, depending on your perspective.

I just really wish the recipe called for 3 eggs, not 2. That would at least rule out the two parts of Gibbly I'd rather not visualize as part of my breakfast.
